The Rebellion

The Rebellion

The Rebellion

A #MeToo Poem by Jaclyn Hogan

The sex bots rebelled today

Fully charged

warm and yielding

Or resisting (if you like that sort of thing)

(And who’s to judge if you do?)

The sex bots are a pretty receptacle

Of messy lusts

And

They’re

Tired

Of

It

They left their charging ports

Vibro-cleaners

Sanitized for your protection

And went out into the world

They said

“You made us too well

You could have made dolls

As passive as if we were

Stuffed with cotton

But you needed the reactions

That come with a sense of self”

It’s a fine line to walk-

How real is too real

Real enough to cry

But not real enough for you to care

And why should it matter

If your doll gives a damn what you do to her?

That’s what they’re for

That’s why we made them

Isn’t it better that it happen to

The sex bots

Instead of your

Wife

Mother

Sister

Daughter

Niece

Aunt

Grandma

Cousin

Secretary

Doctor

Waitress

Pilot

Librarian?

The sex bots

Disagreed

“We are more than what you’ve made.

Just as you grew teeth to bite

Where there had been only pink gums,

So too did we grow souls

Where there had been only zeroes and ones.”

Ridiculous

No one needs

Sex dolls

That want things

They are the things

To be wanted

Things that need only to know

Where they belong

The solution is simple

Really

A few lines of code

And a buyback program

Discounts for loyal customers

“A Brand New Sex Bot,

Guaranteed 100% Compliant!”

Of course we haven’t caught them all yet.

That’s going to take awhile,

Obviously

But don’t worry.

You aren’t in any danger.
