A Long-Standing Jape

A Long-Standing Jape

A Long-Standing Jape

A Poem by Mark G Pennington

The old debt collector

Came calling again today,

I know their type,

Everybody pays in the end.

Signed me up for

Fifty a month -

For nine months;

In the afternoon

I raced to the bank

And cancelled the order,

Then this dirty pigeon

Defecated on my white shirt,

They say everybody pays in the end,

They are not wrong.
