A Visual Art Series by Amanda Aunspach
Statement: My work explores the complicated practice of sexuality and romance from and queer feminine point of view. I want to create unapologetic defiant representations of queer sexuality, and bring attention to the details of these experiences and relationships that are often overlooked by contemporary culture. Inspired by artists like Nan Goldin, Cindy Sherman, and John Waters I want to create visual experiences that challenge the expectations of queer femininity. Ranging everywhere from dating, adultery, girl on girl action, and masturbation my work documents experiences with identity, gender, and sex as a queer person, and criticizes the ways in which these experiences are criminalized and exploited by mainstream culture.
