The half-moons of anxiety

The half-moons of anxiety

The half-moons of anxiety

A Poem by Reba Earle

Crescents

Half moon shape creases,

Lining my palms like highways on a road map

Breaking flesh with brittle, bending talons,

Like biting the surface of a ripened peach

When I worry,

When I'm angry,

When I feel unheard,

When I'm unsure,

When I'm uncertain,

When I feel alone,

The sun goes down,

The moons rise.
